Vintage quilt

Hi Everyone,
So, I was out doing a spot of opp shopping today (as you do)and I came across this amazing quilt.
I quickly snapped it up as I had found not much else to buy, and shoved it in a bag and continued on.
It wasn't until I had a good look at it when I got home I realised what a treasure I had found.

it covers my queen size bed

The fabrics are beautiful 1940s-1950s fabrics

and its sewn on to a pale yellow bemsilk

best of all its signed and dated
I wonder who this lady was and why it was never used as its in pristine condition.
I'm afraid the photos don't do it justice.
Do you have a quilt with a history?
                                                                          Cheers  Lyn

A New outfit for Miss Grace

Hi Everyone,
Woke up this morning with some Ideas in my head that needed to get out,and Miss Grace needed some new clothes.
Found a military style jacket the other day and had seen some great ideas that the Ya Ya s have on exhibition at the Vintage Emporium.
So off I went with the English rose idea, with a little bit of rock and roll.
There was also a beautiful table cloth that had been hanging around with a Chinese willow pattern design in red black and white, but it had a big hole in it which meant it was ripe for up cycling !

As you can see she hates to have her photo taken!
                                                                           Cheers Lyn

Hi Everyone,
Its Easter Sunday today and after doing an Easter hunt with Miss Grace and her best friends Sunny and Ginger we headed home for some relax time (and sewing for me!) and  I managed to get a few more designs out of my head to become some cute outfits.

2 weeks of sun

Hi Everyone,
I was getting a bit burnt out for a while there and I decided after ringing my brother for his 60th birthday that it had been six years since I had been over to visit him and it was about my turn!
So I trotted off to my local travel agent an booked myself and Miss Grace a ticket to sunny Western Australia to spend some quality time with big brother( and of course to visit some new and exciting opp shops while I was there)
Big brother built a special bed for Miss Graces stay

Beautiful Mandurah

I can't help but sew(new quilt cover for my brother)

beautiful halls head beach (everyday for a swim)

Miss Grace and my big brother at the crab festival

Fremantle beach

Some nice new books I picked up
I caught up with some old friends (Phil ,Heidi,Robyn and Paul) and did lots of lovely shopping  with Miss Heidi, resting and bonding with my little Miss Grace.(and heaps of talking reminiscing and generally having a good Laugh with my brother.)
so home today Mr FV&C has organised another estate tomorrow( me thinks it was just an excuse to spend the day together) so strait back to work, but next blog I will try and photograph some of the fantastic vintage treasures that I bought back home.
                                                    Cheers all Lyn

Aprons for the inner domestic Godess

Hi  Everyone,
After reading my new favourite blog  Dottie angel I was inspired  to do a bit of creative sewing and use up some scrappy pieces I had trouble parting with.I used a diverse range of bits and bobs from doyleys, cafe curtains ,old belts, pillowcases ,scraps of lace and I'm pretty happy with them,so I gave them names.(clearly I need a holiday or at last some quiet time!)

So I'm heading off to western Australia with Miss Grace on Wednesday for a little break and to spend some time with my big brother who has just turned sixty! When I get back I will be back in the sewing room and creating my little heart out hopefully feeling a little more relaxed.
                                                               Miss Grace looking cute.
                                                                       Cheers all
